Spiritual experiences have shaped James Powell’s life of faith from an early age.
At seven, he had a vision of the Blessing. At fourteen, he experienced a spiritual encounter with Jesus on Easter. In 2001, he met True Parents in the spirit world and recognised them as: “The most important people I’ll ever meet in my life”. A few years later, while praying to meet the Holy Spirit, a younger True Mother appeared before him.
In 2009, his childhood vision became a reality. James and his wife attended the first Cosmic Blessing in Seoul during the Holy Wine Ceremony. “True Parents have been a part of my life for as long as I can remember, and long before I ever heard of any movement or federation,” he shared.
These experiences have also shaped his understanding of Jeongseong. For James, Jeongseong is the living tradition of True Parents. It is an offering of sincere devotion to Heavenly Parent, made with the goal of moving both the spiritual and physical worlds toward a good and beautiful purpose.
“Jeongseong is the way of life for Blessed Families,” he said. This understanding has been strengthened through his own experiences. In 2012, James experienced healing from cancer while serving as the Chanyang team leader during the 40-day workshop at the time of True Father’s ascension. He also attended True Father’s Seonghwa Ceremony, despite being given two months to live. Years later, his desire to support other members in offering Jeongseong led to the creation of the Jeongseong App.
From paper to app
The idea for the app came from listening to Blessed Family members talk about the difficulties of recording their conditions on paper. Condition sheets could easily become worn, damaged or lost after being carried for several weeks. Some members used the calendar apps on their phones instead. However, these were not designed for Jeongseong and could be awkward to manage. James also had concerns about entering personal conditions into platforms owned by companies where staff might see the content of members’ conditions. “There just had to be a better way,” he said.
James spent several years developing his idea. He drew different versions of the app on paper and shared them with members, using their feedback to improve the design.
Turning those drawings into a working app was the greatest challenge. James tried to learn coding but found the process slow and difficult. The arrival of artificial intelligence eventually gave him another way forward. Using detailed instructions written in ordinary language, he was able to build the Jeongseong App in just a few days. “Having a clear and developed vision helps,” he shared.

Supporting conditions together
The Jeongseong App is free, private and does not require members to create an account. Users can select from a list of templates or create individual, couple and family conditions. Couples can invite each other to share conditions through a link, while parents can include children and grandparents in family offerings. Team members can also report conditions to a central figure. When setting up a condition, the app calculates the final date automatically, removing the need to count and check the days repeatedly. Members can also rate the difficulty of each condition out of ten, helping them recognise which offerings are realistic while still presenting a meaningful challenge.
For conditions involving members in different countries, start and finish times are displayed according to each person’s time zone. Participants can make the same offering or choose their own while remaining united in purpose.
James sees these features as making it easier for members to organise their conditions while balancing work, family life and other responsibilities. “Communities are strong when the individual and families are strong,” James shares. “The Jeongseong App helps bring individuals and Blessed Families together in offering conditions of sincere devotion to Heavenly Parent and True Parents.”
Looking ahead
James received encouraging feedback only a few days after publishing the app. Comments such as “Thank you for creating this!” and “This is very wonderful,” are now becoming increasingly common. “The vision for the Jeongseong App has been circulating in my heart for years,” he said. “It’s a joy to finally see it coming to fruition.”
James aims to continue developing the Jeongseong App, with Korean, Japanese and Spanish among the languages that could be added in the future. He also sees the possibility of supporting tribe-level conditions connected with Heavenly Tribal Messiah activities.
Because members do not need to register or provide an email address, James believes the app could eventually support Blessed Families both nationally and globally while protecting their privacy.
The Jeongseong App is free to access at www.Jeongseong.app, with no download required. Members can also submit feedback or suggest future features anonymously through the app.
