Amelia L. shares her inspiring journey with School of Love, helping parents embrace God’s vision for love, sex, and parenting through open, meaningful conversations.
In the middle of February 2024, I started to work for School of Love. I didn’t have any experience to work from, just simply my love for family and being a mom. I dived into topics that used to make me squirm, like talking about sex, pornography, and the countless questions that come along with that. Since then, taking on this mission has truly blessed myself and my family. I recognized the importance of our role as parents to support our children in learning about all things to do with sex, especially so they can learn God’s original plan. Now I’m excited to have these conversations with my kids, grateful for their questions, and so happy to share this culture with other parents.
I learned that the discomfort, that squirminess, is what I have inherited and accumulated from countless generations. This, however, was not True Parents’ culture. True Father spoke in detail about sexuality and how God put so much love and energy in our sexual organs. This was the culture I needed to strive for. That’s what God wants me to pass on to my kids.
I realized if I change my attitude towards sexuality, this is a game changer for my kids. I started to bring it up more often. We talked about how the world painfully misuses sex so much, but that doesn’t reflect what God’s plans are. So, we got into what are God’s plans for sex? God invented it to create intimacy, love, connection and lineage. We started discussing what are God-centered types of love, and what is selfish. We talked about things in this world we must watch out for, like pornography, as it hinders God’s vision for each of our sexuality on so many levels.
The earlier you start, the better. When we speak to our kids earlier, we can normalize these conversations, before our child builds their impressions from peers, playground talk, Hollywood and social media.
School of Love has become a very inspiring journey for me. The podcast gives me the chance to connect with likeminded people, experts and activists that we can all learn from. I love learning more and being able to share with other parents, building a more positive culture around sexuality that our children can profit from.
2024 was a year of building School of Love up again. This year in 2025, I hope to continue to build upon what was developed, expanding our online community, collaborating with others, extending more help and opportunities through webinars and online meet-ups. However I look forward to taking it to the next level by meeting with people in person, continuing this conversation and sharing our hearts from parent to parent! Early summer there will be a High Noon Summit, and I invite all parents to join to be a part of School of Love! See you there.
